About Us
Owner Jeanette Bussard began sewing at the age of 8-years-old in the 4-H program in her hometown of Anderson, Indiana. The fundamentals that she learned in 4-H became the foundation of a life-long love of all things sewing and quilting. Since that time she has learned through formal instruction, as well as much time spent on her own study and experimentation. Jeanette especially loves wearable art, and creating garments with couture details. Her appreciation for scrumptious fabric, design, and fine workmanship has been a driving force in her work for many years. Teacher and author of instructional booklets, Jeanette is excited to share with other sewists how to create high-end features in their own creations. Jeanette has had garments featured in Threads magazine, and has won or placed well in many national and state level sewing competitions.
High Sewciety Boutique is a reflection of Jeanette's journey into the art of sewing and quilting. Guests will find fabrics that can be used in a variety of projects - in both quilts or garments. Certainly we stock quilting cottons in a wide assortment of vibrant colors and designs, but we also stock wool and felted wool, silks, knits, and other yummy surprises that Jeanette is sure to find on her fabric shopping adventures.
The atmosphere in the shop is that of a sewing studio. We want each guest to feel as if the shop is an extension of her own sewing space - a home away from home. In the studio, guests can take a class with small class sizes where they will receive plenty of one-on-one instruction. Guests can also rent time on our long-arm quilting machine to finish their own quilt tops, or have the quilt top quilted for them if they wish. And Jeanette is always here to offer advise on a sewing problem, help with selecting the right fabrics for your project, or give a suggestion for a future project.
